Why You Got Fat

November 8th, 2009 | by fat |
FatHeadMovie asked:

For decades we’ve been told gaining and losing weight is all about the calories. Just one little problem: the research says otherwise. Diabetics undergo dramatic weight changes when they adjust their insulin levels — and so do you. Your diet determines how much insulin your body will produce over time. From the documentary “Fat Head.”

Think- Calories in vs calories out. Watch how much b4 bed (when sitting around doing nothing & then going 2 bed - not expending many calories). Think Protein & Non-Starchy Vegetables (no potatoes) & healthy Fats. (peanut butter is good - watch it before bed - i cut it out - was easily consuming too many calories. I just eat 4 eggs w/ only 2 yolk before bed. about 200 calories.) Breakfast about 600 calories. 6 hours later - Lunch about 600 calories. then right before bed.

I tried doing a vegan all raw food diet last year and within 6 weeks I lost 2 pounds and all I could think about was bingeing on food!
    I’d totally rethink that!
I’m all for raw veggies but not exclusively.

ouivalerie: Age my friend. The body is not meant to take all the extra carbs. But our bodies are cool. It tries to control abnormal conditions. Overtime it all breaks down.

Instead of taking supplements, why don’t you eat WHOLE REAL FOODS. The only supplements that you should be taking are WHOLE FOOD SUPPLEMENTS, like cod liver oil, flash frozen organ pills, etc.
    ‘nutrients’ are better from food

That is just the level of depth this video stopped at. I am pretty sure there is a good reason for this as perhaps that particular process would make this light video pretty darn complicated.

Insulin receptors in muscles and organs become de-sensitized after being exposed to too much insulin, too often. It’s a bit like when you lose hearing after being exposed to too much noise.

Well, I guess hydrogenated fats are the worst thing you can do, potato chips, and french fries, and they take months to digest and stick in the colon making cells unhealthy. But one real fat reclusive lady learned to live on the love of human contact and she lost ALL HER WEIGHT, because she got rid of a fear of people rejecting her and met them online. They loved her , she made lot’s of friends and got skinny that way and claims it’s all she did. It seems the stress of fear makes you fat..

I don’t understand this, what exactly doesn’t listen to the insulin and why? Insulin resistance is quoted as the reason but what is causing the resistence?

    That’s a really funny movie.

Something a lot of people don’t realize is that low magnesium makes you crave carbs and chocolate. Mag. supplements make low-carb much easier. An unpublished study found that really obese people shed pounds simply by adding some supplements to their daily regime - no diet, no added exercise. They were just craving due to deficiency.

As a diabetic I am told by every doctor I see that if I lose weight even just 10 -15 pounds my readings and A1C would come down. However I lost 40lbs and my A1C went from 7 to 8 and my daily readings thru the roof. How is that. well I lost the weight by starving my self. I’ve got my sugar back down by eating how ever my weight is climbing.

Just follow the glycemic index and what he talks about in fathead and you wont need another fad or crash diet ever again nor will you need to endure a drastic change in your diet and ***** yourself up mentally and physically over it.

Those people are not exercising properly. Obviously the solution is eating clean (avoid all processed junk especially refined carbs) and exercising properly with INTENSITY 3-4 times a week.

Inncorrect. By “moving enough” I assume you mean not ENOUGH exercise. This is asburd, we are “exercising” more than ever, all the while getting fatter.

Do you know how many thousands of overweight people exercise for hours and hours a week?

Burning calories via exercise is dangerous, and unhealthy long term. Check out Body by Science for more info and forget the common lore.

then eat high fat , medium meat , low carb

fat insulin score is next to nothing so eating super high fat = good

meat protein gos to your muscles first so the insulin score is not always its max

carbs like pasta are always bad always max insulin score and harm you right away

No, calories don’t produce insulin all by themselves. Macronutrients do. Carbs, followed by protein, followed by fat, which produces almost no insulin response at all.

Pasta has much of the starch tied up in gluten (a protein) which takes awhile to break down, thus the slower insulin response.

Beef also produces a release of glucacon, which encourages fat-burning. Pasta doesn’t.

Calories cause your body to produce insulin.
Saying it is about insulin says that it’s about calories. Look up the insulin index on the web. Beef (insulin score of 51) causes your body to produce more insulin than pasta (insulin score of 40).

People are fat because they eat too much and don’t move enough. Notice skinny guy was swimming, fat guy was sitting at desk.

Taubes points out that the assumption low-carb dieters eat less is often wrong.

I lost about 3 lbs each week eating over 3000 calories each day. TWO Ultimate Cheeseburgers without the bun each meal. Sometimes it would be a different fast food place. Sometimes the grilled chicken with regular Mayo, no bun. Always two sandwiches. No fries. I did eat salads sometimes. Diet drink or water. No exercise at first. (Taubes also mentions exercise in his book.)

Just do a search on “Israeli diet study” For me, it was the first one listed. Look for New England Journal of Medicine - Volume 359:229-241,July 17, 2008, Number 3. You can download a PDF of the article and other data from the web site,
