true some people eat insane amounts of food, but the supermarkets are trying to kill us all with the hidden fat/sugar/salt in food. have one prepacked sandwich, a quiche and a strawberry milkshake and youve probably exceded your recommended daily intake of fat, sugar and salt just there.

I imagine it’s more like a pot-pie as we know it, a small pie likely chicken or beef or something, and not eating 10 apple pies a day

lose body fat
I think that the a large portion of the problem is that Americans are being fed poison…High Fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, etc. These things are designed to make you more hungry after you eat them. Seriously, I have been trying to lose weight, and from just eliminating hfc and trans-fat I have lost 70-80 pounds in the last 3 months, and I haven’t been dieting at all. Of course, by eliminating those, you are also eliminating junk food and about 95% of everything in the supermarket.

i am sorry but 99% of obese people don’t eat a 1000 calories thats why they are obese. And you would have to a bloody weird person to get obese off 1000 calories.

And yes, Chinchilla, it’s better to eat less. Americans (of which I am one) stuff their faces to the point of obesity. You see signs on the street for Subway, “Double the Meat for 99 Cents!” Buffet-style restaurants that promote overeating. You would be surprised how much food you actually need to sustain yourself. It’s not a lot, especially if you are lazy and not burning calories. A recommended daily amount of calories is 2,000-2,500. You’d be surprised how quickly you can achieve that.

“Winge” is a british word for a cry or complaint. E.g., stop ur winging about how fat you are.

I didn’t say it was an illness. I said it was often a SYMPTOM of an illness. Bit of a difference there. Some people could indeed use a willpower boost, but willpower verse intense instinctual hunger… and the hunger WILL win, any doctor will tell you.
Whats “winge?”
Nobody deserves to be treated like crap for something they may well be unable to change or control for facters YOU don’t know, or something they may well already be working on. Weight doesn’t come off in a day.

Not everybody has a local farmers market (thankfully I do). But no, you can’t feed a whole family on “veg for a tenner.” When your kids are hungry, you’re going to tell them “its better to eat less?”

its not illness. its a problem of willpower. obesity is simply not an illness. the very word “illness” is being used as a scapegoat for a handful of mickey mouse diseases which didnt exist 50 years ago because people today are lazy, unread, unmotivated, uninspired, materialistic, egocentric. A change of intention will remedy this. If you want to winge about your weight, you deserve the stigma. Hard work is rewarded with the desired outcome. turn off X-factor and dont eat junk. simple really.

nonsense. You go to a high street fruit/veg stall you can buy a weeks worth of veg for under a tenner. buy single carrots, leek etc… Besides, its better to eat less than to eat junk.

Generate its own energy? If it did that, one wouldn’t have to walk at all to burn calories.
I’m saying that there are a lot of complex functions of the body (and yes, the mind) that come together and make obesity a *human* problem, not a “weak” or “lazy” person problem.
I know at least 5 people at this moment on medications, or who have diseases, which keep the pounds on, and I see the way they’re treated by complete strangers, and thats far more disturbing than those extra pounds.

But if you went for a long walk, then suddenly you’d be using more than 1000 calories. You’d still be obese to start with. It takes time and commitment. It ain’t easy. Or are you saying it’s possible to have a body wired so strangely that it can generate its own energy? Even so, I’d like to see actual clinical evidence of anyone who’s had less than 1000 calories a day and not lost weight.

Ah, I see. You’re just out for a cheap shot. I mistook you for someone with an education on the subject.
You can eat less than 1,000 calories a day, if something is wrong with your body or wiring you can still be obese.
But thats a real fact, and not some mythical inexpensive vegetable you pulled out of your ***.
Buh-bye now.

The cheapest food is PROCESSED. The most expensive food is UNPROCESSED, as in vegetables, fruits, etc. If you think veggies are cheap, you apparently aren’t paying your own food bill. Compare ramen noodles to a bag of apples, and see how many kids you can feed on them. This isn’t rocket science, and it isn’t a contested fact either. Check out any nutrition expert, they’ll tell you exactly what I have.
Also, pasta, bread, and grains are no solution to obesity. You think these are magic?

Hi fat people, I have a miracle program for you that will let you eat whatever you want and still lose weight! Ready?
BURN MORE CALORIES THAN YOU CONSUME.
That’s it! It’s not difficult. If you consume 2000 (or 10,000) calories in a day, burn more than that and I GUARANTEE you won’t be fat. Why is this so difficult?

Bullshit!
The cheapest food out there is pasta, potatoes, rice, and bread. Grains and root vegetables are the cheapest and healthiest things you can eat. For the price of a Big Mac you can feed a family of four with a big bowl of pasta.
You know what’s cheaper and healthier than soda? Water. It’s FREE. Try to get fat off that.
