What does fat do to regulate blood sugar?

March 7th, 2010 | by fat |
BiologyQuestions asked:

Does it absorb or release glucose to help regulate blood sugar? I think fat does both right? It absorbs it and stores it if theres to much then if other spots within the body needs the glucose say the brain then the fat cells would release it right?

    lose belly fat

Fats slow down the absorbtion of carbohydrates in the digestive tract so they don’t spike the glucose quite so high as they would do if they weren’t there. That gives us an advantage in being able to eat some of the higher glycemic foods available occasionally.

The brain requires a certain amount of fats in the blood to function properly. These fats are some of the good cholesterols.
